Production Design & Set Decoration

Each role in the art department has helped inform & shape her outlook as a designer. As a standby art director, she thrived on problem-solving & communication, developing an appreciation for shot composition & semiotics through props.

As a set decorator, she is skilled in immersive research & reference, working across various periods & countries, adapting to new communities & methods, in order to seek out unusual & beautiful solutions, within time & budget.

Most recently, Maxine had the privilege of designing her first feature film with director & long-time collaborator, Andrea Arnold, on her film Bird. A coming-of-age story starring Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan & Franz Rogowski, following a lone teenage girl who helps a stranger.
